2022年3月，我院教师李小平教授合作论文《What Drives Chinese Firms’ Export Sophistication? A Perspective from the Rise of Minimum Wages》在期刊《China & World Economy》上正式刊出。
文章摘要：This paper re-examines the driving factors behind the upgrading of China’s export sophistication. Based on county-level minimum wages and firm-level export data for 2000–2013, this paper finds that the labor cost shocks caused by rising minimum wages have a significant positive impact on Chinese firms’ export sophistication. Channel tests show that the positive effect of rising minimum wages on firms’ export sophistication derives from the exit of less sophisticated products and the reallocation of the relative share of surviving products, rather than introducing new highly sophisticated products. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that rising minimum wages have a greater impact on export sophistication for low-wage firms, domestic firms, and labor-intensive firms. This paper has implications for developing countries regarding the transition from a low-cost labor trade model to a sophistication-driven trade model.

李小平，中南财经政法大学经济学院二级教授、博士生导师、经济学院院长、国家级青年人才获得者、教育部新世纪优秀人才、湖北省有突出贡献的中青年专家、湖北省新世纪优秀人才。
李小平教授的研究领域为国际贸易理论与政策等，其先后以第一作者在《经济研究》、《管理世界》、《世界经济》、《统计研究》、《数量经济技术经济研究》、《经济学季刊》、《财贸经济》、《中国人口·资源和环境》、《马克思主义研究》、《经济管理》、《经济学动态》等刊物上共发表文章60余篇；出版专著4部，合作出版专著5部。
近年来，李小平教授主持科研项目十余项，以第一作者或者独作的研究成果获得了12项省部级奖项，其研究成果有13篇被人大复印资料、《中国社会科学文摘》、《新华文摘》等全文转载。
